11,000 Kuwaitis evacuated during first phase
On Tuesday, 21 flights carrying 3,800 Kuwaitis arrived at the Kuwait International Airport – Kuwaitis who were stranded abroad following the spread of the coronavirus and suspension of commercial flights, reports AlSeyassah daily.
This brings the total number of evacuees to more than 11 thousand, while the second phase will begin Thursday and will continue until next Saturday – 65 flights expected to bring citizens from 23 destinations.
Eng Yusef Al-Fouzan announced the successful completion of the first phase of the plan during 3 days.
In a statement to reporters, Al-Fouzan indicated the second phase will follow the same pace and performance and will be subject to the arrangements and supervision of the Ministry of Health through implementing health procedures for all arrivals.
The spokesperson for the DGCA Eng Saad Al-Otaibi, announced the second phase which begins on April 23 and will continue until April 25, includes Amman, Casablanca, Nouakchott, Istanbul, Vienna, Alexandria, Cairo, New York, Brussels, London, Paris, Manila, Bangkok, Dakar, Tunisia, Malta, Beirut, Tbilisi, Baku, Mumbai, Delhi, Sarajevo and Amsterdam.
He added statistics show the number of flights during second phase is expected to be 65 from 23 destinations, and the total number of passengers expected to arrive is 11,570 passengers.
Dr Yousef Al-Enezi stated the medical teams are prepared to deal with the arrivals. He pointed out after arriving a passenger is dealt with according to all procedures laid down by the Council of Ministers and the temperature is checked and data is recorded and activated through the Shlonik service.
