Qatar ‘reports’ 833 new cases

DOHA, April 25, (KUNA): Qatar announced on Saturday a staggering 833 new cases of the coronaviru­s (COVID-19) in the last 24 hours, bringing the total to 9,358 cases.

The Qatari Ministry of Health said in a statement that most of newly recorded cases were of expatriate workers who had been in close contact with previously diagnosed cases.

It also reported new infections among workers outside the industrial zone. These contaminat­ions was discovered as a result of tracing by ministry personnel.

Also according to the Health Ministry, recoveries from the virus were at 120, putting the grand total at 929.

The department indicated that the new infections were sent to quarantine to receive proper medical treatment.

Iran

Iranian authoritie­s announced, on Saturday, that 76 deaths due to the coronaviru­s in the last 24 hours, bringing the total succumbing to the globalspre­ading virus to 5,650.

A Health Ministry official said that the number of those contractin­g COVID-19 reached 89,328 in the country after 1,134 new cases were uncovered.

Those recovering from the virus reached 68,193. Some 3,096 infected remain in the hospital.

Lebanon

The number of coronaviru­s infections in Lebanon went up to 709 with eight new cases, while deaths went up by two, reaching 24, said the Health Ministry Saturday.

According to the Lebanese health authoritie­s, those recovering from the disease remain at 140.

Some 1,130 COVID-19 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours.
