‘Exploiting world’s focus on combating pandemic’

KUWAIT CITY, April 27, (Agencies): Kuwait Progressive Movement (KPM) announced its rejection of the new Zionist bill to annex the Jordan Valley and settlements to the usurping entity, reports Al-Seyassah daily.

In a press statement issued recently, the movement explained that

“The usurping Zionist enemy, with unlimited support from American imperialism, is exploiting the entire world’s focus on combating the COVID-19 pandemic to implement its aggressive plans and expansion projects. It is benefiting from the collusion of Arab regimes and their keenness to normalize relations with it, as well as from the regretful state of division between Fatah and Hamas, in addition to the cover provided by the losing bet of the Palestinian official leadership on unequal negotiations and unfair agreements”.

It said, “Here are the pillars of the new government coalition for the Zionist entity announcing their agreement to start proposing a draft law to annex the Jordan Valley and usurped settlements in the West Bank during the month of July, as part of implementation of the American-Zionist conspiracy project called Deal of the Century, which aims to liquidate the Palestinian cause and cancel the legitimate national rights of the Palestinian Arab people”.

The movement called on all peace-loving, antioccupation, aggression states and all the forces of freedom, democracy, progress and socialist parties in the world to declare their explicit rejection of this aggressive project, and to provide various forms of solidarity and support for the struggle of the Palestinian Arab people to restore their legitimate national rights.

It also called on the popular and Arab liberation forces to work on exposing the systems of employment and collusion, and rejecting all forms of normalization with the Zionist entity.

The movement expressed its confidence that “our Palestinian Arab people will defeat this conspiracy deal and will resist liquidation projects for its national cause”.

It said, “We reaffirm our support for the efforts of the national, liberal and progressive Palestinian forces aimed at overcoming the current situation. This requires activating the popular resistance to the occupation, leading to a comprehensive resistance, and uniting energies of the Palestinian people”.

Meanwhile, the European Union reiterated its position on the status of the territories occupied by Israel in 1967 remains unchanged; not recognising Israel’s sovereignty over occupied West Bank.

“The European Union’s position on the status of the territories occupied by Israel in 1967 remains unchanged.

“In line with international law and relevant UN Security Council resolutions, including Resolutions 242 (1967) and 338 (1973), the European Union does not recognise Israeli sovereignty over the occupied West Bank,” EU High Representative Josep Borrell said in a statement today.

“The European Union reiterates that any annexation would constitute a serious violation of international law.

The European Union will continue to closely monitor the situation and its broader implications, and will act accordingly,” he stressed.

Borrell said he took note of the political agreement that could pave the way for the formation of a Government in Israel, adding that the EU is willing to closely cooperate with the new Government on fighting the coronavirus.
