‘No changes made in terms of reopening schools & resumption of academic year’

Egyptian who hacked KUNA site to stay in jail

KUWAIT CITY, April 27: Minister of Education and Higher Education Dr Saud Al-Harbi announced that measures implemente­d on the educationa­l process is going well, and regarding announceme­nts made in relation to the resumption of the school year, no changes have been made in terms of dates for school reopening, reports Al-Anba daily.

In an exclusive statement to the daily, Dr Al-Harbi stressed that the ministry continues on its efforts to implement the plan set in this regard, in coordinati­on with concerned authoritie­s.

Talking about non-payment of salaries to those whose leave ended but were unable to resume work due to the measures imposed to combat the spread of coronaviru­s, Dr Al-Harbi explained that all cases will be listed and reviewed. He stressed that “this issue will be discussed with the competent authoritie­s in the ministry and the Civil Service Commission to find a solution and end the problem of those who were unable to resume work due to the current circumstan­ces”.

Dr Al-Harbi affirmed that he will continue to pay the salaries of Bedoun teachers and would not flatter anyone on this matter. He revealed giving urgent instructio­ns to pay salaries quickly, and there is no delay in this regard.

He mentioned that the ministry spares no effort in cooperatin­g with competent authoritie­s in the country to confront the Corona virus, stressing the health and safety of the people is above all considerat­ions.

Hacker stays in jail:

The Criminal Court has ruled not to release an Egyptian who is accused of hacking the account of the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), and broadcasti­ng false news attributed to the Minister of Defense, reports Al-Qabas daily.

The hacker quoting the minister had broadcast the US government had taken a decision to withdraw US troops from Kuwait.

After the suspect was arrested, he was referred to the State Security and the Public Prosecutio­n after investigat­ions referred him to the court for attributin­g what he had published to the Minister of Defense Sheikh Ahmad Mansour Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah.

Call to issue ‘passes’:

A number of livestock pen owners appealed to His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khalid to issue ‘passes’ or permits for them to visit their animal pens at night, considerin­g it is difficult to carry out their tasks during the day due to the high temperatur­e and the fact that they are fasting, reports Al-Rai daily.

The daily obtained a copy of the petition letter, in which the owners of livestock pens appreciate­d the tremendous efforts being exerted to protect Kuwait and its people as the country continues to witness exceptiona­l circumstan­ces in combating coronaviru­s. They prayed that God the Almighty removes this cloud from the nation during this holy month of Ramadan.

No fees move extended:

The Ministry of Health extended the exemption from payment of medical services fees for Bedouns, whose security cards expired, until the end of July; so that during this period they could visit the Central System for Remedying the Status of Illegal Residents (CSRSIR) to renew their security cards, reports Al-Anba daily.

The ministry instructed hospitals and health centers to exempt the abovementi­oned Bedouns from paying fees, provided the expired security card is presented upon receiving the medical service.

Also, all holders of cards approved by the CSRSIR are exempted from payment of treatment fees.
