Amnesty period for residence violators ends

KUWAIT CITY, April 30, (Agencies): The Ministry of Interior has stated that it has not decided to extend the amnesty period for residence law violators which ended April 30, 2020, reports Al-Qabas daily.

The daily added, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anas Al-Saleh has seen the report on amnesty centers that has been prepared by the security officials.

The precise date for departure of the residence law violators to their respective homelands has yet to be specified since maintainin­g law and order among those who have registered to leave the country without paying fines constitute a huge burden on the country not only from the security aspect but taking care of all those who are housed at the government shelters in light of the health crisis that the whole world is going through.

The source added that the total of the violators who benefited from the deadline that ends on April 30 and up till now about 25,000 expatriate­s out of a total of approximat­ely 1,60,000 violators, which means that 1,35,000 residents refused to take advantage of amnesty and are still hiding in residentia­l areas.

The sources pointed out that the report also recommende­d not using all the shelters taking into account many other things because the shelters may be needed during emergency situations.

The source noted the countries which have refused to open airspace for their citizens the time limit may be extended for those wishing to leave.

Policemen arrest three in Jleeb

Policemen arrested three people while trying to sneak out of Jleeb AlShuyouk Area, which has been under lockdown to curb spread of coronaviru­s, the Ministry of Interior said.

A police patrol spotted three persons trying to sneak out of the area in defiance of the lockdown, it added in a statement.

The three persons, who were not carrying personal identifica­tion, were arrested and taken for questionin­g, it said.

Kuwait reports 284 new cases

The Kuwaiti Ministry of Health announced 284 new coronaviru­s infections in the last 24 hours, bringing the total of infections to 4,024, while two deaths were reported as well, bringing the total fatalities’ toll up to 26.

During a daily briefing, Health Ministry spokespers­on Dr Abdullah Al-Sanad said that 66 patients were in intensive care, 30 of them are in critical condition.

Those currently receiving treatment at hospitals reached 2,459 patients said the spokespers­on. Thursday’s death cases were for two Indian males; aged 51 and 54, both had been receiving treatment at ICU.

The Health Minister Dr Basel AlSabah announced the recovery of patients 150, bringing the total to 1,539 recoveries.

MoH denies reports

Kuwait Ministry of Health denied reports a Chinese medical team made recommenda­tions regarding the coronaviru­s situation in the country.

Reports about recommenda­tions by the Chinese delegation are not true, MoH spokesman Dr Abdullah Al-Sanah told KUNA.

He said the Chinese team visited the Shlonik Applicatio­n Center and commended the use of technology in the fight against the virus.

The team, added Al-Sanad, would visit Jaber Al-Ahmad Hospital Thursday.

Plane returns from China

A Kuwaiti Air Force plane carrying medical equipment and supplies to help in fight against coronaviru­s, returned home from China, the Ministry of Defense said.

This flight is part of coordinati­on between the Ministries of Defense and Health in order to provide necessary medical supplies, the ministry added in a statement.

Kuwait Air Force operated an air corridor to bring the medical supplies from China, it said.
