KUWAIT CITY, April 30: MP Adel Al-Damkhi lauded the decision of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anas AlSaleh to form a committee tasked to investigate the visa trading issue, hoping the recent reshuffle of senior officials at the ministry will lead to intensification of efforts to combat this crime.
He pointed the issue should not be addressed only by the ministry and the government, stressing the National Assembly must also play a vital role.
He intends to request for the formation of a special parliamentary committee to follow up this issue, indicating that visa trading is akin to importing unemployment and this is not in the interest of the country.
He also emphasized the need for many public institutions to do their part in combating visa trading like the Public Authority for Manpower (PAM), Central Agency for Public Tenders (CAPT), other ministries and Kuwait Municipality.
Meanwhile, MP Dr Oudah AlRuwai’e suggested the formation of a working team to complete delayed procedures for newly appointed and retired citizens. He said the team should be capable of dealing with the public online in order to avoid violating regulations specified by health authorities to curb the spread of coronavirus.
In addition, MP Shuaib AlMuwaizri urged Minister of Health Dr Bassel Al Sabah to visit hospitals in order to listen to the complaints of the medical staff and solve their problems, especially since a number of doctors and nurses are now infected with corona.
