MPW complains to MEW about protecting inner streets from wastewater

Some domestic workers use hose to wash cars and yards

-

KUWAIT CITY, May 4: Officials from the Ministry of Public Works revealed that water wasted by some citizens who allow the use of water hose in “washing cars and yards” is behind the damage of asphalt in the internal streets at the various regions across the governorates, prompting the Ministry of Public Works to notify emergency teams of the Ministry of Electricity and Water to take legal action against the water wastage, reports Al-Jarida daily.

The same sources indicated the Ministry of Public Works had filed several complaints to the Ministry of Electricity and Water, and specified locations where water wastage occurs, which causes damage to the asphalt and affecting the lifespan of those streets.

It expected the judicial control teams of the Ministry of Electricity and Water will deal with violations related to water wastage.

They explained that street maintenance teams observed in the course of their work that some domestic workers use the hose to wash cars and yards, so the water drain washes away the asphalt streets, and with the passage of time, leads to cracking of the asphalt, creation of pits and eventual damage those streets. They called on citizens to note the importance of sensitizing domestic workers to rationalize water consumption in washing cars and yards, and avoid to draining the water in the streets, as it causes great harm.

They reiterated that the Ministry of Public Works needs to have judicial control teams through which it can maintain its various services with teams operating in the Ministry of Electricity and Water to limit infringements on different works on the streets, manholes, landlines and other services that costs the country millions to maintain periodically, according to plans.
