Opportunity to change demographic structure

Citizen violates home quarantine

-

KUWAIT CITY, May 4: It is no longer a secret to us that Gulf countries were able to break the social barrier of shame when it came to serving their nations in which the expatriates had the lion’s share, reports Al-Qabas daily.

Young people in Saudi Arabia and Oman were able to replace expatriates as taxi drivers and take up several jobs in the labor market once occupied by the expatriates under the slogan ‘Uber’ and ‘Karim’ and others.

It is well-known that a majority of the expatriates mostly Asians work as drivers and this is one of the reasons that has tilted the demographic structure in favor of the expatriates and now is the best opportune time to remedy this situation which can be done by young Kuwaitis and bedoun replacing these expatriates.

The corona crisis has brought this crisis at the government doorstep giving it a historic opportunity that should be invested make the Kuwaiti youth take up professions as mechanics, drivers, electricians, and others which they were ashamed of before.

The crisis has revealed the need of the Kuwaiti and bedoun youth for the country as we see them working as handlers, delivery ‘boys’, in packaging, loading and unloading, and volunteering to practice these and other professions without shame, proving they are an asset to their homeland in times of pain.

Mandatory quarantine:

Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior (MoI) said Sunday it transferred a citizen to mandatory quarantine at Jaber Al-Ahmad

Hospital because she violated the home quarantine, and that she would sued once she completed the isolation period.

The female citizen, recently repatriated and wore Shlonik bracelet which monitors home quarantine, was photographed while shopping at a cooperative society in violation of the quarantine restrictions, the MoI said in a statement.

MoI’s personnel then transferred the citizen to the mandatory quarantine after violating her home quarantine regulations, it added.

Citizens being repatriated are obliged to wear bracelets to make sure they abide by the mandatory or home quarantine regulations.

The MoI said the famel citizen would be referred to legal authorities once her quarantine completed. (KUNA)
