‘Authorities that use our schools will be responsible for damages’
370 schools in various areas used by govt agencies
KUWAIT CITY, May 10: The Ministry of Education responded to news published by Al-Anba daily recently about some residents in areas where certain schools are located, indicating these residents caused damages to these schools, reports Al-Anba daily.
Assistant Undersecretary for Educational Development and Activities and official spokesman of the ministry Faisal Al-Maqsid disclosed the authorities that received these schools signed a commitment and pledge through which they are responsible for damages or destruction to schools, stressing the ministry handed over these schools due to the need of other parties and as part of its commitment to put public interest above all considerations.
Al-Maqsid said more than 370 schools in various areas are being used by a number of government agencies, calling on these parties to preserve these facilities, especially since “they are first and foremost our children’s schools.” He added that in coordination with the Educational Establishments and Planning Sector, an integrated report on these schools and what they need once the crisis ends, will be prepared.
Regarding the registration of subjects on the educational platforms, he explained that work was temporarily suspended after one of the employees was found to be infected with coronavirus. He said work will resume on Sunday, affirming all employees in the recording studios were examined and the result appeared good.
He added the registration of secondary school subjects has been completed and they are now in the montage. He confirmed these subjects will be formally approved by the competent authorities before they are presented to the students.
On the intermediate and elementary lessons, he affirmed the ministry has started recording the materials for Science and Social Studies subjects for middle school students.
Meanwhile, the former minister of Education and Higher Education, the former deputy, and lawyer, Dr Ahmed Al-Mulaifi, has emphasized that health and education are two sides of the same coin, reports AlAnba daily.
Dr Al-Mulaifi during an exclusive interview with Al-Anba gave in detail his opinion on the distance education system, supporting its implementation, decision-making, and the formation of legal, technical, educational, and media teams in this regard.
He also presented his views on the implementation of the distance education system in schools and universities, stressing that distance learning does not need new laws but merely amending some regulations and decisions, noting that the Ministry of Education did not take precaution nor put the worst scenarios to the crisis and is working on it from the start to find an alternative, because the matter may be prolonged and the study stopped, which means the corunavirus has defeated us.
He stressed that the Corona crisis brought to the fore several other crises. He also called for punishing those who are responsible for creating what he called ‘imbalances’.
