Food safety is among our top priorities: livestock company
Smear campaign rejected
KUWAIT CITY, May 10: Livestock Transport & Trading Company, the world’s largest transporter of live livestock, affirmed that the company has keenly placed “food safety” among its top priorities for more than 45 years in business by applying the latest quality procedures in all its facilities and operations, reports Al-Seyassah daily.
This statement was in response to a smear campaign related to a video clip circulated on social media, which constitutes slander and fallacies about one of the company’s products.
The company further affirmed that it reserves the right to take legal action against the source of the offensive video, stressing that “since its inception, the company has been adopting and implementing quality systems and procedures in all operations, starting from the purchase of livestock from their countries of origin until they reach the customer’s hand”.
Statement noted the company has more than six quality certificates, including Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), which is a food safety system through which every step in the manufacture, storage and distribution of food is scientifically analyzed for microbiological, physical and chemical hazards.
The company said: “The timing and manner in which this offensive video was broadcast harms the efforts of the company and its Kuwaiti officials who continue day and night to achieve food security and provide all kinds of meat products to the consumer.
“Since the beginning of 2020, the company has provided more than 200 thousand herds of livestock for the market, as per the highest quality standards”, statement noted.
In addition, the process of slaughtering cattle in the Capital slaughterhouse and the new central livestock market takes place under close supervision of specialized doctors from the Public Authority For Food and Nutrition on a daily basis, and only the carcasses that pass direct test are released to the market but not before going through three stages to check the quality, starting from supply department that receives the carcass, followed by its preparation for customers, and finally, loading them for delivery to sales centers and homes.
The company indicated that all branches of the company offer meat products to customers with the utmost transparency wherein the customer inspects the carcass before it is prepared and packaged, according to their desire, after which the customer adheres to transporting the meat and storing it in a proper way to avoid spoilage, and in the event of any complaint or observation by clients, they can communicate with the company through the call center for a specialized team to follow up on their complaints.
