PAMA confirms transfer of KD 500K from proceeds of various charitable activities

KUWAIT CITY, May 13: Acting Director General of the Public Authority for Minors Affairs (PAMA) Eng Abd Al-Latif Al-Barjas has confirmed the transfer of KD500,000 from the proceeds of various charitable activities in line with the decision of the PAMA Board of Directors headed by Justice Minister Dr Fahad Muhammad Al-Affasi, reports Al-Anba daily.

Al-Barjas revealed that KD250,000 of the above-mentioned amount went to the cash donations account opened by the Council of Ministers to support the efforts of the State in curbing the spread of coronaviru­s, as well as the relief and humanitari­an works of the country.

He said the other KD250,000 was disbursed to those covered by PAMA -- for the benefit of those with low or no income -to assist them during the crisis. He affirmed that the amount was deposited to the bank accounts of 2,500 beneficiar­ies.

He added that PAMA has always been keen on supporting those covered by its sponsorshi­p through religious and educationa­l activities, as well as assisting those who are insolvent through a social research conducted by the specialize­d agency in the authority. He affirmed the monthly assistance is allocated for them to meet their basic needs in accordance

with the results of the social research.

The Foreign Minister and head of a special team tasked with repatriati­on of citizens from abroad, Sheikh Dr Ahmad Nasser AlMohammad Al-Sabah, declared on Monday that preparatio­ns for nationals’ return from Saudi Arabia via the land checkpoint AlNuwaisee­b were complete.

He said in a statement that the operation would be carried out between May 12 and 20, adding that the foreign ministry and the State of Kuwait Embassy in Riyadh started registerin­g names of citizens seeking to return home.

All returnees will be subjected to medical examinatio­n at the Khairan Resort.

Kuwait had already completed a multi phased operation bringing back home by air nearly 30,000 nationals who were stranded in several countries amid the ongoing coronaviru­s crisis.

The Ministry of Health of Kuwait announced Tuesday that the lethal novel coronaviru­s (COVID-19) has claimed the lives of more 10 people in the past 24 hours, raising the death toll up to 75.

In his daily coronaviru­s update, the Health Ministry Spokespers­on Dr. Abdullah AlSanad stated that 991 people have tested positive for the highly contagious virus today, increasing the overall number of infections in the country to 10,277.

He pointed out that 158 patients were in intensive care, including 74 in critical condition.
