The daily quoting a source explained that the official showed symptoms of the virus, and tested positive after taking the smear, which prompted him to inform the administration to take all necessary precautions.

He said: “All sectors of the ministry took precautionary measures before entering, including wearing masks and gloves, sterilizing and cleaning elevators with physical spacing, and taking all requirements set by the health authorities seriously. Nonetheless, the speed of spread of the virus and lack of commitment by some may obstruct the efforts to return life to normalcy and move to the second stage.

Decision

He added the decision of extending the work for another week in the first phase within the plan to return to normal life, as determined by Cabinet, gave the ministry an additional opportunity to review all preparations to receive employees in stages that include the first stage with 30% of them. It starts with supervisory positions such as managers, supervisors and departmental heads for a period of two weeks, then employees without underlying health problems and those below the age of fifty.

On the other hand, the source announced that the administrative sector in Ministry of Education discussed with the Ministry of Interior the mechanism of renewing residencies for teaching and administrative staff in the ministry whose residencies expired or about to end. This mechanism is on trial basis and notes have been put in place before application, in coordination with officials of the Ministry of Interior who appear to be responding rapidly to the remedy of these remarks, prior to adopting this mechanism. It allows the ministry’s staff from the Human Resources Department to carry out the process of renewing residencies in accordance with specific legal requirements.

He explained that the ministry received from the Public Authority for Civil Information lists related to its expatriate workers to sort out those whose residencies have expired or about to end, according to workplace, whether in the educational areas, schools or academic stage, in coordination with the Ministry’s Information Systems Center.
