Local charities change method of distributing food items to needy
‘Register on aid platforms’
Residents jostle to receive food baskets in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh.
KUWAIT CITY, June 24: The local charity societies have changed their method of distributing food baskets following the lifting of the isolation orders on Hawally and Khaitan areas, which had rendered the two areas to be outside the coverage area of their activities, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting informed sources.
They said the group food basket distribution projects will, from now onwards, be restricted to those who register on the aid platforms of the Ministry of Social Affairs or are staying in quarantine buildings, in coordination with the Civil Defense and Ministry of Interior.
The daily accompanied a team from charitable societies and Special Forces to Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh area to witness the distribution of 5,700 food packs. The distribution took place from 5:00 to 6:00 pm.

relations in Al-Najat Charity Society Omar Al-Thuwaini said, “These efforts come with the continuation of the commitment and pioneering humanitarian efforts that the society have been exerting to support affected families and workers in the isolated areas. Food baskets were distributed by Kuwait to low income earners living in Jleeb AlShuyoukh area.”
While the share of Al-Najat Charity Society was 3,000 baskets, the Kuwait Relief Society contributed 1,000 baskets, and Al-Salam Charity Society 1,700 baskets. These baskets were distributed to the needy.
The Special Forces officers took over the task of organizing and the distribution process to prevent people from taking more than one basket. They closed one of the main roads and restricted the people to two rows - one for men and the other for women.
Residents of Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh area assured the daily that their affairs are fine, and that the general situation is stable. They also expressed their desire to return to their normal lives.
