KUWAIT CITY:
Head of the Union of Consumer Cooperative Societies Fahd Al-Kashti has unveiled the union’s intention to launch an electronic system for controlling the prices of goods in cooperative societies, in line with the commitment of cooperatives to provide high quality products at appropriate prices and to prevent greedy traders from exploiting the citizens, reports Al-Rai daily.
In his press statement, Al-Kashti disclosed he is currently working on the establishment of an advanced system that performs the following tasks: compare commodity prices between cooperative societies by putting the barcode of the item on an electronic platform for the union, and display the prices of commodities once the barcode is placed in the application that monitors prices with the capacity to adjust as soon as possible through a unified system with instant and automatic control using an application available on smartphones – App Store and Google Play.
He affirmed the vast experience and professionalism of the members of the union’s Board of Directors in overcoming the new challenge and controlling prices, while stressing that the union has sufficient experience and mechanisms to prevent manipulation of prices and to stabilize markets.
He also urged the board members of the cooperative societies to coordinate their efforts in curbing the greed of some merchants and to support the project which serves the interests of the citizens.
