KUWAIT CITY:
MP Adel Al-Damkhi forwarded queries to Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr Ahmed Nasser Al-Muhammad about the information he received that the Kuwaiti ambassador to Canada is mistreating employees and preventing them from performing prayers, prompting a number of employees to resign, while others were terminated.
He requested for copies of decisions to terminate the services of employees and the resignation letters of employees who resigned since the beginning of the tenure of the incumbent Kuwaiti ambassador to Canada till date, in addition to copies of letters that human and labor rights institutions sent to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
He asked if a committee was formed to investigate the ambassador. If yes, he demanded for copies of the investigation and the resulting decisions.
Meanwhile, MP Riyadh AlAdasani commented on the participation of Al-Damkhi in an online meeting organized by the Public Money Protection Society during which AlDamkhi defended Minister of Finance
Barrak Al-Shitan.
In the meeting, Al-Damkhi said the minister promised the Parliament that he will refer any additional file regarding the Malaysian fund (1MDB) to the Public Prosecution; hence, Al-Shitan did his job properly.
Al-Adasani argued that the statement of Al-Damkhi about the finance minister is inaccurate, because AlShitan has been slow in referring the file to the prosecution and the file he submitted so far is incomplete.
He revealed that when he asked AlShitan to show the file to the Parliament during his grilling, the minister declined under the pretext that the file contains confidential data.
