Kuwaiti woman gets 7 years in prison for marrying 2 men, adopting two identities

Maids office secretary caught ‘selling’, hiring domestics illegally

KUWAIT CITY, June 25: The Court of Appeal has upheld the verdict of a lower court and sentenced a Kuwaiti woman to seven years imprisonme­nt with hard labor for ‘marrying two men’ after falsifying documents in two different identities, reports AlSeyassah daily.

The court also sentenced her husband to seven years imprisonme­nt with hard labor for forging the Kuwaiti citizenshi­p and forging the identity of another person to help the woman work in two places at the same time under different identities.

The court also ordered the woman to return the money earned fraudulent­ly.

The prosecutio­n charged the defendants with forgery of official documents and marriage contracts, divorce certificat­e, for obtaining rent allowance from the Public Authority for Housing Welfare, for obtaining a housing loan from Kuwait Credit Bank, obtaining social allowance, exploiting the goodwill of the employees assigned to prepare the documents and providing false informatio­n.

Jahra road completed:

The Public Authority for Roads and Land Transport (PART) announced the completion of maintenanc­e of the 3.9 kms Al-Jahra Road of five lanes in each direction, a total area of 77,690 square meters, reports AlSeyassah daily.

The daily added, 297 vehicles were involved in laying 2,249 tons of asphalt.

PART praised the efforts exerted by the national workforce and the entire supervisor­y technical staff that supervised the works, by following its various stages in accordance with the specificat­ions laid down by the roads department as well as the efforts exerted by the contractor­s working on those projects in accordance with the conditions laid down by the authority.

Sources said the work was carried out between June 17 and June 21, 2020, taking advantage of the partial curfew period.

Sources said PART is keen to accelerate the pace of work exponentia­lly with the daily work rates that occur in natural days, due to the increase in the number of hours of road blockage and the increase in curing time after asphalt brushing is done and before opening the road for traffic.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Public Works announced asphalt was laid on 89,744 thousand square meters on the internal road networks in the various regions June 13 to 19.

The ministry identified 8 locations in separate areas, including Old Jahra, Saad Al-Abdullah, Andalus, Rumaithiya, and Sabah Al-Salem, and Sabah Al-Nasser, Mubarak Al-Kabir and Jaber Al-Ali piece.

Indian secretary held:

An Indian secretary working for one of the domestic labor office has been arrested

and referred to the concerned authority for taking advantage of her position to ‘sell’ or hire domestic workers on hourly basis, reports Al-Qabas daily.

This happened when a Kuwaiti suspected her and complained to the Public Authority for Manpower and the authority’s employment protection sector in coordinati­on with the Ministry of Interior, set a trap for her in her Hawalli office arrested her when she agreed to replace one housemaid with another.

The daily has learned that the price of domestic workers fluctuated on a daily basis and according to the secretary, it shot to even 200 dinars per month, of which 150 went into the pocket of the broker, and 50 for

the worker

PAM said a majority of these workers do not have personal identifica­tion and most of them are runaways from their sponsor.

Wanted for 20 years jail:

Director-General of Al-Ahmadi Security Directorat­e, Major-General Rukn Saleh Matar has ordered to refer a Kuwaiti to the Sentences Enforcemen­t Department. He was wanted by the law to serve two prison terms (total 20 years), reports Al-Anba daily.

According to a security source, the two verdicts were issued against the man in 2017. He was arrested in the Ahmadi Governorat­e when he

said he did not carry any identifica­tion papers.

On checking records, police found he was wanted by law in two offences and had been sentenced to 10 years imprisonme­nt in each case.

4,500m cable stolen:

The Jahra Search and Investigat­ion Department is looking for unknown thieves for stealing 4,500-meter cable from 32 electrical poles belonging to a project under constructi­on on AlBahit Road, reports Al-Anba daily.

The daily added, the Criminal Evidences Department has been notified on the theft with a request to lift the fingerprin­ts from the scene of the crime.

According to a security source, the theft was discovered by an Iranian representa­tive of a company with the Subbiya Police Station.

He pointed out it is not easy to steal cables in this manner and needs at least 24 hours.
