Drugs smuggling via the sea foiled
KUWAIT CITY, June 25 : Personnel from the General Department for Drugs Control (GDDC) have arrested an unidentified person for attempting to smuggle into the country 15 kilos of hashish and 3 kilos of drugs via the sea, reports Al-Rai daily.
This came as part of continuous efforts by the Ministry of Interior, particularly the General Department of Narcotics Control to tackle the scourge of drugs and arrest the smugglers and drugs pushers.
The confiscated drugs – believed to be 15 kilos of hashish and three kilos of marijuana has a street value of about 150,000 dinars.
The arrest of the suspect came after investigations were carried out by the GDDC in coordination with the Public Prosecution.
On the other hand, personnel from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) have arrested a Kuwaiti, who is believed to be in his 30s, for attempting to smuggle into the country believed to be worth about 9,200.
The daily added, the CID men lay in ambush for the 24-year-old suspect who had allegedly hidden the drugs (10 sachets of marijuana) into food supplements.
The suspects and the contraband have been referred to the concerned authorities.
Fire tackled: Employees at the Hawalli Traffic Department managed to control a limited fire that broke out inside the kitchen, reports Al-Anba daily.
A security source said that the traffic officials were quick to deal with the fire and prevented it from spreading. The damage was limited to material losses.
The fire-fighting department was not notified of the fire.
