‘Pay tuition fees, get school certificates’

-

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 10: Some Arab private schools have refused to issue certificates to students covered by the decision to end the school year (Grades 1-11) unless the tuition fees are paid, reports Al-Anba daily.

A number of parents disclosed that the schools kept the certificates in the administration and did not hand them over to the students or their parents. The parents said these schools continue to demand for payment despite the

Ministry of Education’s directive to exempt students from paying fees.

The parents added that they informed the schools about the ministerial decision on the exemption, but their efforts proved futile. Some of them unjustly paid the fees while others referred the issue to Assistant Undersecretary for Private Education Affairs Dr Abdul Mohsen Al-Huwaila who outrightly rejected the way these schools are pushing for the collection of fees.
