Man gets property right:

-

The Court of First Instance has ordered a Kuwaiti woman to pay her expatriate ex-husband KD 377,000, which is the value of a real estate registered under her name, because the husband didn’t have the right to register the property under his own name, reports Al-Seyassah daily.

According to the lawsuit filed on behalf of the plaintiff by his counsel - Lawyer Fahad Al-Haddiya from Abdul-Mohsen Al-Qattan Law Firm, the man paid for the landed property but registered it under his wife’s name. He paid the registration fee at the Ministry of Justice and the value of the property at a real estate office. He sealed an agreement for the construction of the building with furnishing, and purchased all the necessary materials without his wife contributing any fund to the project.

While they were married, they had five children who are non-Kuwaitis and could not own property in the country like their father.

The woman had signed a document to protect the rights of her husband and their children, wherein she affirmed that the entire property belonged to her husband with full right to the value of the property whenever it was sold.
