Requests to resume 6th Ring Road project

-

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 12: Officials of the Public Authority for Roads and Land Transport stated the implementation of Contract No.189 concerning the intersection on the Sixth Ring Road opposite Sabah Al-Nasser/Sulaibiya-Kabad is delaying despite the announcement made by the Minister of Public Works and Minister of State for Housing Affairs Dr Rana Al-Faris earlier that the works would resume soon, reports Al-Rai daily.

The same sources explained that this project has been suspended for more than six years due to dispute between the contractor and the Public Authority for Roads and Land Transport over some technical matters related to the project’s soil. They indicated the ministry has won the Court of First Instance ruling in its favor and began to count work quantities that have been implemented and those remaining, in preparation for completing the project.

They asked whether the previous company will resume work or there is a new company to which the work will be assigned after preparing a practice, asking the minister of works to move to resume work on this project, so as not to follow the example of the former ministers who promised to complete work in this vital intersection and did not fulfill their promises.

They stated the suspension of work on the project caused traffic accidents on the Sixth Ring Road, opposite Sabah Al-Nasser and Kabad Road towards the location of Al-Farda Market, Caves and asphalt, and concrete factories, in addition to Al-Shadadiya University.

They pointed out that hundreds of citizens ply Kabad Road daily, as well as technical workers that visit Abdullah Al-Mubarak, West Abdullah Al-Mubarak, and South Abdullah Al-Mubarak areas on a daily basis, indicating and suspending the project this way raises question marks.
