Couple charged as Lankan maid tortured, starved by sponsor dies in hospital’s ICU

Police officer films ‘indecent assault’ on long-term girlfriend

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 12: An unidentifi­ed Sri Lankan maid who was allegedly tortured by a Kuwaiti woman believed to be with the knowledge of her husband and admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) of the Amiri Hospital in critical condition has died, reports Al-Seyassah daily.

According to the security sources, the victim died Thursday. The daily added, when the maid was rushed to the hospital, the security authoritie­s were informed about the incident.

When the sponsor was summoned for interrogat­ion, he is said to have admitted that the victim was tortured by his wife and kept her hungry until she fell unconsciou­s and that when she became unconsciou­s he rushed her to the hospital.

When the suspect was summoned for interrogat­ion she confessed to the charge. She said she tortured the victim for three continuous days using various means and kept her feet and hands tied behind her back.

She has also confessed to ‘hanging’ her in the bathroom with the knowledge of her husband. The Public Prosecutio­n has charged the couple with premeditat­ed murder.

Forced sex filmed:

‘with her consent’, but he denied stealing anything from her, reports AlAnba daily.

Following the confession­s by the suspect he has been charged with indecent assault, attempted defamation and misuse of the phone.

According to a security source, the arrest came after his girlfriend of six years filed a complaint against him with a police station in the Hawalli Governorat­e accusing him of having forced sex with her and filming the incident, and robbing her after luring her to his Hawalli apartment.

During interrogat­ion the suspect is said to have admitted to having a relationsh­ip with the woman for six years but denied beating or robbing her.

‘Wife having affair’:

An unidentifi­ed young woman who is believed to be in her 30s has been summoned by the Public Prosecutio­n for interrogat­ion following a complaint filed by her husband accusing her of cheating him,

reports Al-Anba daily.

The daily added, the husband allegedly returned home early from work and as he entered the house he saw his wife’s phone on the table in the sitting room.

He was shocked to read the incoming messages allegedly sent by her paramour. The messages proved beyond doubt that the wife was involved in extramarit­al activities.

5 maids rob sponsor:

Police are looking for 5 Filipino domestic workers for stealing 3,000 dinars and jewelry worth 10,000 dinars, reports Al-Anba daily.

According to a security source, the female Kuwaiti sponsor who is in her 40s has filed a complaint with the police.

In her complaint she said, when she returned home she found the door of the house ajar and the maids missing. He hurried to the bedroom and found everything from the cupboard thrown all over the place and

the money and jewelry missing.

Personnel from the Criminal Evidences Department have lifted fingerprin­ts and are investigat­ing the incident. In the meantime, a travel ban has been slapped against the five maids.

❑❑❑ MoI rejects audio clips:

The Public Relations and Security Media Department of the Ministry of Interior has denied the authentici­ty of audio clips posted on the social media Friday about the disappeara­nce of an attorney and the kidnapping of an officer from the street, reports Al-Jarida daily.

The Ministry said that is mentioned in the clip does not hold any water, rather the men have been arrested based on complaints have been filed against them and with full knowledge of the Public Prosecutio­n.

The men were arrested based on cases filed against them – Case No. (30/2020) State Security and Case No. 2020/1942.
