Kuwaiti-Saudi land border crossing opens

-

The land border crossings between Kuwait and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia have been resumed from today, Tuesday, after remaining closed for several months following the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic as the world scrambled to contain and prevent the spread of the virus, reports Al-Rai daily.

A security source told the daily the authorities on both sides were involved in hectic activity to ensure the smooth flow of vehicles from Saudi Arabia.

The source indicated that the General Administration of Border Ports, in coordination with the Ministry of the Interior, will not allow travelers to enter the country, unless they have an approved PCR certificate proving that they are free from the virus.

The sources added, the PCR certificate should have not been issued prior to 96 hours. In addition to this the people arriving into Kuwaiti will be subjected to mandatory 14 days home quarantine.

The daily added, those who leave the country for Saudi Arabia must obtain a PCR certificate from the concerned authorities.

The source added, many Kuwaitis and citizens of other Gulf countries were expected to make a beeline at the border crossing starting at dawn Tuesday.
