KUWAIT CITY, Sept 16: The official re-opening of the Kuwaiti land border with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has brought smiles on the faces of many Kuwaitis and Gulf citizens, who were separated from their siblings and relatives after the border point pulled down the barrier following the outbreak of the Corona pandemic upon instructions issued by the health authori

ties on both sides of the border, reports Al-Rai daily.

During a tour of the area by the daily, Director-General of the General Administration of Land Ports, Brigadier General Iyad AlHaddad, said he is happy that the Al-Salmi and Nuwaiseeb border points have become lively with dozens of people crossing the border points on the first day of the opening at the Salmi port which entertains only departures.

He explained the Nuwaiseeb port allows ‘entry’ and ‘exit’ of Kuwaitis and Gulf citizens. The entry through the Nuwaiseeb border point is from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm.

Al-Haddad stressed told the daily those entering the country must carry the PCR certificate which should not be more than 48 hours old and the person will be home quarantined for 14 days in accordance with the health requirements. Those arriving in the country must also sign a pledge in this regard.

He called on all Kuwaitis leaving for Saudi Arabia to carry with them their passports and not the Civil IDs only. Those who want their domestic workers to accompany them must obtain a visa in advance from the Saudi embassy in Kuwait.

Regarding the entry of Saudi citizens into the country, Al-Haddad said, “The most important condition for entry into the country is a person must have a first degree relative or he/ she should be a resident of Kuwait and must have a Civil ID, or an employee of the ministries of Health or Education.

He pointed out the Saudis who bring domestic workers with them will not be allowed to enter the country due to the suspension of visas, and they must bring an approved PCR. Moreover, he said those who enter Kuwait must bring the PCR certificate issued not more than 48 hours before and that the entry is through the Nuwaiseeb border point only.
