Public said not following health measures at cemeteries as set by Funeral Affairs Dept

-

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 19: Following the return of life to normal, the Funeral Affairs Department in Kuwait Municipality has set precautionary measures for mourners in cemeteries in accordance with the guidelines issued by the health authorities for preventive and precautionary measures in terms of wearing gloves and masks and maintaining physical distancing in order to avoid the spread of COVID-19, reports AlQabas daily.

Those who go to the cemeteries these days to participate in the funeral processions or to visit cemeteries have noticed that the general public fail to implement the necessary health measures in terms of adhering to physical distancing and wearing masks. In addition, when the caskets are carried from the condolences hall to the burial site, overcrowding has been noticed.

The same is the case when mourners line up to offer their condolences to the bereaved. Such a scene is currently against the health measures set by the health authorities with the aim of curbing the spread of COVID-19 virus.

Opening the funeral hall to pray for the deceased and receiving condolences in cemeteries requires the concerned officials in the Funeral Affairs Department of Kuwait Municipality to reconsider and organize the process so that the measures of physical distancing, wearing masks and gloves, and setting new controls for the sake of the public interest can be followed.
