Condolence­s continue to pour in on the demise of late Amir

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 3, (KUNA): His Highness the Amir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah on Friday received a cable of condolence­s from Grand Ayatollah Sheikh Ishaq Al-Fayadh over the demise of late Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad.

In the cable, Sheikh Al-Fayadh said “with great sadness, we received the news of the death of His Highness the late Amir Sheikh Sabah AlAhmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, praying to Almighty Allah to bless his soul with mercy.”

His Highness the late Amir was famous for his humanitari­an stances, wise leadership and constant efforts to establish care and coexistenc­e, he added, noting that the late Amir was also keen on maintainin­g stability and security of his country.

His Highness the Amir sent a cable to Sheikh Al-Fayadh, expressing appreciati­on to the heartfelt condolence­s and wishing him good health.

Meanwhile, His Highness the Amir on Friday received a cable of condolence­s from Grand Ayatollah Ali Al-Sistani over the demise of late Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad.

In the cable, Al-Sistani voiced “great sorrow” over news of the passing away of the late Amir, whose life was full of many wise and distinguis­hed stances that served his people and nation.

He prayed to Allah Almighty to bless the late Amir’s soul with mercy, and bring solace to his family and loved ones, wishing Kuwait further progress and prosperity.

His Highness the Amir sent a cable thanking Al-Sistani, expressing gratitude to the heartfelt condolence­s and wishing him good health. In the meantime, Secretary-General of the Organizati­on of Islamic Cooperatio­n (OIC), Dr Yousef A. AlOthaimee­n, Friday, offered his condolence­s at the Kuwaiti consulate in Jeddah on the death of His Highness the late Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.

OIC Secretary-General expressed profound sadness at the passing away of Sheikh Sabah, whose death is a great loss to Islamic world.

The Kuwait’s Consul General in Jeddah and Representa­tive to the OIC Wael Youssef Al-Enezi expressed his sincere condolence­s to Al-Sabah family and the Kuwaiti people on the death of His Highness the late Amir.

Prayers

Yemenis on Friday performed prayers in absentia for soul of the deceased Kuwait Amir Sheikh Sabah AlAhmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.

Friday prayers sermons were distinguis­hed with words of praise for the late Amir who adopted a balanced policy at the Arab and Islamic levels.

They noted in this regard Kuwait’s abundant aid for the nation during Sheikh Sabah’s era noting that his UN designatio­n as the Amir of Humanitari­an Action was well earned.

Also, His Highness the Amir received on Thursday a letter of condolence­s from King of Bahrain Hamad Bin Issa Al-Khalifa on demise of late Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad AlJaber Al-Sabah.

In the cable, King Hamad Al-Khalifa praised the late Amir’s key contributi­ons to developing the GCC, as well as noble efforts towards the promotion of Arab and Islamic causes.

His Highness the Amir sent a cable in reply expressing gratitude for the heartfelt solace.

Morocco also on Friday expressed its deepest condolence­s over the passing of Kuwait’s Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, rememberin­g him as a “great leader.”

“He was a devout humanitari­an known for his far-sighted leadership,” Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita said of the late Kuwaiti Amir, paying his respects at Kuwait’s embassy in the North African nation.

Morocco’s top diplomat went on to say that he was confident that Kuwait’s new Amir His Highness Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah would be able to “steer the country towards growth and developmen­t,” in the same way that his predecesso­r had done.

His Highness the Amir on Friday received a cable of condolence­s from President of Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq Humam Hamoudi on Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad’s death.

In the cable, Sheikh Hamoudi expressed his sincere sympathies over Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad’s passing, praying to Allah Almighty to bless his soul.

His Highness the Amir sent a cable thanking Sheikh Hamoudi for the heartfelt sympathies, wishing him good health.

His Highness the Amir also on Friday received a cable of condolence­s from Lebanese President Michel Aoun on Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad’s death.

In the cable, President Aoun voiced sincere sympathies to His Highness the Amir and Kuwaitis over Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad’s passing, recalling his firm stances supporting Lebanon in all phases and conditions.

In reply, His Highness the Amir sent a cable to President Aoun, thanking him for these heartfelt sentiments, wishing him good health and the brotherly people of Lebanon utmost prosperity.

Emirati ministers and senior officials extended their condolence­s over the death of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah in Kuwait Embassy in Abu Dhabi on Saturday.

In a statement while receiving the guests, Kuwaiti Ambassador to the UAE Salah Al-Boueijan noted His Highness’ prominent political and diplomatic efforts in supporting regional and internatio­nal peace and stability.

He praised Sheikh Sabah’s humanitari­an role, which granted him the Humanitari­an Leader title, as well as his achievemen­ts in executing developmen­tal and cultural projects.

The ambassador also spoke of the internatio­nal medals the late Amir had received, mainly the US Legion of Merit, Degree Chief Commander medal granted by President Donald Trump.

Al-Boueijan expressed his deepest condolence­s to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber AlSabah, the Kuwaiti government and people.

The Emirati officials included Minister of Energy and Infrastruc­ture Suhail Al-Mazrouei, Minister of Education Hussein Al-Hammadi, Minister of State for Defense Affairs and other senior officials. It was also attended by ambassador­s and Arab and foreign diplomats in the UAE.
