Number of health officials will be doubled at land borders: official

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 3: The Director of the Public Health Department, Dr Rafhad Al-Ghamlas based on the directives issued by the Minister of Health Sheikh Dr Basel Al-Sabah and the Undersecretary of the Ministry Dr Mustafa Reda accompanied by senior Health Ministry officials paid a visit to the border crossings at Salmi and Nuwaiseeb to get first hand information of work being carried out at these two land crossings, reports AlRai daily.
The daily added, on the sidelines of the visit he met officials manning the land border points and discussed ways how to overcome difficulties and facilitate easy travel across the land borders.
Al-Ghamlas indicated that necessary arrangements have been made to double the number of officials responsible for health registration and to conduct swabs tests to detect Covid-19 infection and to assist incoming people download and activate the ‘Shlonak’ application at the Nuwaiseeb port, and another medical team has been assigned to work in the Salmi port, which began work over the past two days to facilitate entry of those coming from Kingdom of Saudi Arabia particularly from Riyadh and Hafar Al-Batin to reduce congestion at the Nuwaiseeb port.
Al-Ghamlas stated that those coming from the land ports must adhere to the instructions and controls put in place by the Kuwaiti Ministry of Health irrespective how they enter Kuwait either overland, via the sea or air.
People arriving into the country must bring along with them a copy of the civil ID card to speed up the entry procedures. They must also hold a PCR health certificate to prove they are free from Covid-19 infection. The certificate should have been issue no more than 96 hours ago from the date of testing at the border point and downloading and activating the ‘Shlonak’ application on the private phones of the person before entering the port and undertaking to respect home quarantine for 14 days and adhering to other health requirements such as wearing masks, physical distancing, and using sterilizers.
Al-Ghamlas stated that the Ministry of Health is in the process of providing declarations and instructions for the application of ‘Shlonak’ and home quarantine on the ministry’s website, so that ‘arrivals’ can print and fill out the declarations before arriving at the port to facilitate health procedures at the ports.
