Amir receives Prince Charles

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 4, (KUNA): His Highness the Amir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah received on Sunday Prince Charles of Wales who arrived in Kuwait shortly earlier on Sunday to offer solace on demise of the late Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad AlJaber Al-Sabah.

Prince Charles also expressed condolence­s to National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Ali Al-Ghanim, Sheikh Meshaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Deputy Chief of the National Guard, Sheikh Jaber Al-Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, His Highness Sheikh Jaber AlMubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah and Sheikhs.

Prince Charles and his entourage were received at the airport upon arrival by Minister of the Amiri Diwan Sheikh Ali Jarrah Al-Sabah.

Prince Charles is accompanie­d by a number of officials.

Kuwait’s Foreign and Acting Defense Minister, Dr Sheikh Ahmad Nasser Al-Mohammed Al-Sabah received UK Secretary of State for Defense Ben Wallace and the delegation accompanyi­ng him on Sunday.

Sheikh Ahmad hosted secretary Wallace and his entourage at the foreign Ministry’s reception Diwan on the sidelines of their visit to the country to pay respects for the passing of the late Amir HH Sheikh Sabah AlAhmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.

Dr Ahmad AL-Sabah expressed gratitude for Wallaces visit and extending condolence­s for Kuwait’s loss, reflecting the strong ties between both countries.

Topics of common interests and the latest developmen­t of the region and the rest of the world were discussed during their meet.

Present at the meeting were Deputy Chief of the General Staff Lt Gen Khaled Al-Sabah, the Foreign Ministers Assistant for European Affairs Ambassador Waleed Al-Khubaizi, Deputy Assistant for the Office of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Saleh Al-Logani, and a number high ranking MPs.

Also attending were Britains Ambassador Michael Davenport and the Embassies Defense Attaché, Captain Paul Mulvaney of the Royal Navy.

KUWAIT CITY: His Highness the Amir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah received on Sunday a cable of congratula­tions from Russian President Vladimir Putin on his taking of the helm of power.

The Russian president, in the cable, affirmed his determinat­ion to pursue cooperatio­n for boosting security and peace in the Middle East.

Sheikh Nawaf replied, extending gratitude for President Putin’s kind sentiments, noting that he shared the Russian leader’s aspiration to broaden cooperatio­n further.

His Highness the Amir also received Sunday, a cable of congratula­tions from Secretary General of the Organizati­on of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries (OAPEC) Ali Bin Sabt, on the occasion of his assuming power.

OAPEC, in a statement said, Bin Sabt wished His Highness the Amir good health and wellness, prosperity and progress for Kuwait under his wise leadership.
