Most Sincere Condolences
UPON receiving the saddest news on the passing of His Highness Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Amir of the State of Kuwait, I am saddened immensely while refreshing my proud memory of serving Kuwait and receiving His Highness as State Guest to Japan, as then Ambassador of Japan to the State of Kuwait. Please accept my most sincere condolences. My wife, Mieko, also joins me in the heartfelt condolences.
Greatness, generosity, kindness and the contribution to peace and prosperity of His Highness the Amir will be remembered. Especially the Government and people of Japan, as well as myself, will never forget His Highness’s gracious assistance of 5 million barrels of crude oil, as a grant, to help alleviate the hardship, and assist in the recovery from the devastation suffered by the people of East Japan from the Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami of 3rd March 2011.
My wife and myself will continue to treasure the privilege and happiness of enjoying the audience His Highness graciously granted to us a number of times throughout my tenure as Japanese Ambassador to the State of Kuwait.
I would also like to reiterate my utmost gratitude to His Highness for his gracious gesture at the time of his State visit to Japan, when bidding farewell to the then Emperor and Empress of Japan, His Highness the Amir took the extraordinary kindness to communicate to the Emperor my contribution to the cause of further strenghtening the friendship and cultural exchange between Kuwait and Japan.
His Highness the Amir served the cause of prosperity and wellbeing of Kuwait and its people, worked and has been respected as a sincere and skillful mediator for Gulf neighbors. His Highness contributed to peace and stability in the Middle East, Asia and the world at-large. His Highness also aided graciously the developing countries in the Middle East, Asia and Africa.
Precious memories of His Highness the Amir flow out one after another. I should however stop here. Please be assured of our everlasting respect, admiration and gratefulness to His Highness the Amir. I shall remain,
With all sincere wishes and prayer,
Yasuyoshi Komizo
Former Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the State of Kuwait
