Motorists experience problems on Road 40

-

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 11: For the last three years, motorists on King Fahad Expressway (Road 40) have been suffering, especially at the part that connects Sabah Al-Ahmad area and Nuwaiseeb border checkpoint, due to the many curves and temporary traffic diversions created by the contractor of the project referred as “Development of Al-Nuwaiseeb Road”, reports Al-Rai daily.

During these three years, motorists have been dreading driving on that part of the road, and are impatiently waiting for its completion with the hope of enjoying safe driving on one of the most vital roads of Kuwait.

The question that most users of this road, especially those who are obliged to drive on it daily due to the nature of their work, is Why is the work of this project, the contractual period of which has expired, is proceeding at such a slow pace despite its importance?

This road used to be the preferred route for chalet owners, workers of oil companies and electricity and water stations, and travelers to Saudi Arabia via land.

Furthermore, it is expected that the importance of this road will increase after the completion of Khairan City.

The project cost is over 170 million and the completion rate did not reach 60 percent despite the expiry of its contractual period.

Motorists expressed their dissatisfaction with the slow pace of work of the project, given the level of risks they are being exposed to, while they go back and forth on the road, due to the major traffic diversions that have made the road more like a death trap, especially in consideration of the occurrence of many traffic accidents that have claimed the lives of many people.
