‘Step to be a radical transformation’
KUWAIT CITY, Oct 13: Assistant Undersecretary for Corporate Affairs at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry Dr Saleh Al-Oqeili revealed a number of new measures that the corporate sector is currently undertaking in the ministry such as completely automated issuance of import licenses electronically, which will be launched very soon, reports Al-Anba daily.
Dr Al-Oqeili affirmed that the automation step will take place after completing the process of issuance of the electronic authentication law that the Ministry of Commerce and Industry has been working on with the cooperation of the Ministry of Justice.
He said, “It is a step that will constitute a radical transformation in the aspect of establishing companies, so that the incorporation process will be completely done electronically without the need to visit any of the company’s incorporation centers in Kuwait. Work is now ongoing with the cooperation of the Ministry of Justice to issue the executive regulations that will organize the process of documenting the incorporation contract electronically”.
Dr Al-Oqeili explained that the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, at the beginning of the automation journey, aimed at focusing on the services that are frequently requested. It had already succeeded in automating some of the current services, so that services such as commercial extract, change of address, and renewal of commercial license can be carried out electronically without the need to visit the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. Also, the service owner can print his license electronically and obtain a certified copy bearing the code for each license.
Regarding the most important future
plans that are currently being implemented, Dr Al-Oqeili emphasized that the Ministry of Commerce and Industry aims to automate all services of the corporate sector, improve the business environment, and fully modernize the shareholding company system.
