KUWAIT CITY, Oct 14: The families of inmates of the central prison gathered in front of the prison, to express their displeasure at the way how they were treated by the Special Forces inside the Central Prison, reports Al-Qabas daily.
This happened when the security forces were looking for contraband allegedly hidden inside the facility by the prisoners and the prisoners resisted being searched, which prompted the Special Forces to use force.
This gave the social media users to blow the issue out of proportion and under the Hashtag they commented on ‘Violations of the Central Prison’.
In the meantime, the Public Relations and Security Media General Department at the Ministry of Interior released a statement and commented on what was published by some social media sites, about the existence of riots inside the prison complex.
To dispel rumors, the ministry stated the Security Control and Support Team, affiliated to the Correctional Institutions Affairs Sector and the Sentences Enforcement Department launched a surprise periodic inspection inside the Central Prison wards and at that point in time some inmates of the Central Prison refused to cooperate with the authorities.
The ministry indicated during the surprise inspection campaign, “some inmates were caught using highly sophisticated cell phones inside one of the cells so legal measures against them and confiscate these phones. Some of the inmates refused but they were forced to hand over.”
Some policemen and some inmates were injured during a scuffle and they had to be referred to the Farwaniya Hospital to receive the necessary treatment.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior, Lieutenant General Essam Salem Al-Neham, visited the Central Prison, and was briefed on the security measures taken by the inspection team, and was assured of the safety of procedures through the security system represented by security surveillance cameras.
The statement added that the senior Ministry officials were present at the site, including Major-General Talal Ma’arafi, Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior for Correctional Institutions, MajorGeneral Muhammad Al-Anzi, Director-General of the General Administration of Control and Inspection, Colonel Salah AlShatti, Director-General of the General Administration of Legal Affairs, and lawyer Mohammad Hamzou Sarkhou.
Lankan kills himself:
Police are investigating the death of an unidentified Sri Lankan driving who was working for a Kuwaiti family in Sabah Al-Salem, reports Al-Rai daily.
The daily added, the death was reported to the Operations Room of the Ministry of Interior by the sponsor of the victim following which police and paramedics rushed to the spot and found the man hanging from a rope inside his room in the outhouse.
The corpse has been referred to Forensics for an autopsy.
Dues unpaid: Police are looking for an unidentified person who is said to have escaped without paying after fixing a wind screen on his car, reports Al-Anba daily.
According to the workers at the shop the suspect said he wants to pay by Knet and when the employee went to workshop office to get the Knet machine, the suspect got behind the wheel and drove off.
When the owner of the shop gave police details of the car and the suspect, the plate number did not match the description of the shop.
The security sources say the thief was using a stolen car plate number.
Two horses stolen:
Police are looking for the thieves of two pure-bred Arabian horses, reports Al-Rai daily.
According to a security source the owner of the farm from where the horses were stolen told the Sulaibiya Police Station he does not suspect anyone.
However, it is the first time the thieves have targeted the horses. The complainant said he does not know who might have stolen the horses, when asked to point a finger of accusation.
