LAPA taps art to face effects of coronaviru­s and daily life stress

Fadfada a reward for every woman who believes that she deserves to reward herself: Al-Saqqaf

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 23: LAPA launched a group of creative and artistic classes in its new project “Fadfada”.

About the project, LAPA’s CEO Fareah Al-Saqqaf said: “Fadfada is a new unique program which we are presenting for women as we believe that we are responsibl­e toward them and we appreciate the great role they play in our daily life. Women are carrying great responsibi­lities: home, work and family and everyone expects them to succeed in all of this”. She added: “The program is studied and designed carefully so woman can discover her passion and the artist inside her, and to give her the space and opportunit­y to change the stress, anxiety and depression into a creative energy.

The program is designed for small groups, only 7 ladies per group so every woman can get the extreme benefit. The participan­ts will learn tools that enable them to express their creativity through the different kinds of arts and the techniques of each kind of them, and the most important is that they will have a space of entertainm­ent, comfort, and meditation. Fadfada will be a reward for every woman who believes that she deserves to reward herself. If a woman can not take care of herself, she will not be able to take care of others”.

Fareah Al-Saqqaf added: “The first week of Fadfada will be under the slogan “write it out” where we will focus on writing under my supervisio­n. Participan­ts will express themselves through discussion then through creative writing. They will learn new tools to express their creativity and get closer to the creative child within them, and this will be reflected in words that will give their lives a new dimension that we will discover together”.

Sarah Atallah, the supervisor of the project said: “the world is still struggling with Corona and its bad psychologi­cal effects on everyone such as stress, anxiety, depression and fear, and as we know, ladies and girls are facing doubled stress, between home worries and work pressures. And therefore, LAPA launched its new project, “Fadfada” for ladies who are +21 years old. The program will be 5 weeks, including 30 sessions on Saturday, Monday, and Wednesday, for two hours, from

4:30 to 6:30 pm”

Atallah added: “the program will include classes in creative writing, Fine Art, music, dance and drama under the supervisio­n of a group of profession­al and creative instructor­s. The program aims to encourage ladies to express themselves and their feeling through different kinds of arts which will help in relieving stress, and to heal with art. As I explained, the program is social, creative, and bilingual. And itwill be held at the Sheraton Hotel”.

The second week of Fadfada’s slogan is “paint it out” and it will be under the supervisio­n of the artist Zena Dabbous, who said: “It will be a unique art workshop in which the participan­ts will learn self-reflection, by drawing and coloring portrait of themselves. All ladies are invited to vent themselves through art, without any restrictio­ns”.

Nisreen Nasser, the head of LAPA’s music department and the supervisor of Fadfada’s third week said: “For every woman that suffered from the consequenc­es of “Corona”, when things are going against your desire, when your plans and dreams are delayed, when you’re overwhelme­d of stress and anxiety, Fadfada program will give you a space to Reach the wisdom, tranquilit­y and joy within you.Through melody, harmony, and rhythm, you will learn

to listen to yourself and to be more in tune with those around you. You will be learning and applying music skills with your group to create masterpiec­es!They will also discover their leadership skills through practical exercises to create creative pieces of music during the third week of Fadfada and under the slogan: “sing it out”.

In the fourth week, Participan­ts will express their feelings through dancing! Under the slogan: “Dance it out”. And about this program, Ana Mosquera, the dance instructor, said: “Through movement you will embody your feelings and inner reflection­s. This experience will express your thoughts and emotions through dance. vent out all your frustratio­ns by dancing it away!”.

The last week of Fadfada will be under the supervisio­n of Sarah Atallah with the slogan: “Act it out” where the ladies will discover and express themselves through movement, sound and speech all combined. They will also explore the effect of role play exercises to look at daily life situations in a different way”.

In other words, Fadfada is a space for all possible types of expression. By meditating, talking, writing, singing, playing, acting, drawing with colors, or dancing. It is an invitation to every woman and girl to vent it out with LAPA!
