IICO and Social Affairs launch ‘Tamkeen’ to lift charity work
Workers to undergo specialized training program
KUWAIT CITY, Jan 24: The International Islamic Charity Organization (IICO), in partnership with the Ministry of Social Affairs, has launched the ‘Tamkeen’ initiative to develop the charity work through a specialized training program that includes the most important knowledge, information, skills and strategies that workers in the charity sector must acquire; with the aim to develop the capabilities of the organization, reports AlSeyassah daily
The authority said in a statement the “Institutional Governance Course in Non-Profit Institutions” was organized by the authority through the ‘ZOOM’ application over three days, four hours per day, in which 44 persons participated including members of the boards of directors of charity institutions and ministries in Kuwait and some Gulf
countries.
Assistant Undersecretary for the Social Development Sector at the Ministry of Social Affairs, Hana AlHajri, said over two years since the signing of the cooperation protocol between the ministry and the charity, “we have noticed a qualitative development in training programs provided by the Tamkeen initiative for employees involved charity work and the government sector.”
She added, “We also noted the importance and quality of these courses
in raising the competitive level of the participants to address measures that would protect charity work and fill all the gaps that may negatively affect its progress.”
Al-Hajri referred to the first training courses for this year and its objectives, which she said, was aimed at strengthening the trends of corporate governance in non-profit institutions and raising awareness of their importance and role in supporting the work of these institutions in accordance with international recommendations and requirements, increasing their ability to monitor and self-evaluation to serve charity work, and raise the efficiency of workers and enhance mutual understanding in the interest of charity work in Kuwait.
She expressed her appreciation for the efforts made by the charity, and its constant emphasis on supporting the partnership between it and the Ministry of Social Affairs through the cooperation protocol.
Director of Charity Societies and Charities Department at the Ministry of Social Affairs Huda Al-Rashed said that these workshops and courses are the result of joint cooperation between the charity and the Ministry whose aim is to developing the performance of workers in the charity sector, and appreciated the efforts exerted by the Tamkeen initiative and its qualitative and distinguished training courses.
For his part, the Director General of the IICO, Badr Saud Al-Sumait, described the corporate governance course as a strong start for the training program for the Tamkeen initiative during the 2021, which aims to train charity work employees, enrich their knowledge and develop their skills.
