KUWAIT CITY, Jan 25: The Court of Appeals upheld the verdict issued by a lower court which acquitted an expatriate who was accused of possessing heroin with the intention of trafficking, and acquiring the brain stimulant Morphine for the purpose of misuse.

According to the case file, detective officers, acting on tip off, were issued with a search and arrest warrant against a woman who lives in Salmiya area and was found in the parking area of a building. The officers approached her and searched her bag to find drugs. When they asked her about the source, she directed them to her supplier in Hawally. The police found him in his apartment, but did not find any narcotics in his possession, and he refused to divulge information about where he gets his supplies.

Representing the expat was Lawyer Abdullah Al-Alanda who said his client was arrested based on an arrest warrant that was issued for someone else, and that it did not concern him. Due to the fact that the arrest warrant was not applicable on his client, the search and arrest of his client was illegal, which therefore disqualified both allegations of possession and trafficking.

Surgeon acquitted: The Court of Cassation, headed by Judge Sultan Bursli, rejected the appeal of the Public Prosecution to punish

a well-known plastic surgeon for allegedly molesting a female patient in his clinic and upheld the acquittal of the accused, reports Al-Seyassah daily.

Earlier, the Court of Appeals ruled on the acquittal of the plastic surgeon and canceled the ruling of a lower court that sentenced the accused to five years in prison bailable for KD 5,000.

The defendant denied the accusation when he appeared in court. His lawyer affirmed his innocence,

pointing out that the accusation was malicious as shown in the recording of a security camera installed inside the clinic.

Bones, skull found: Personnel from the Criminal Evidences Department (CED) are working to determine the identity of a person whose skeletal (bones and skull) remains were in the desert of Abdali about two kilometers from the mainland, reports Al-Anba daily.

The daily quoting CED sources said at this moment it is difficult to say for sure if the remains are of a man or a woman and also to determine the exact date of the death. However, the concerned authority will look back at the ‘missing’ reports filed with the Interior Ministry.

The source told the daily all possibilities are open regarding these remains. They may date back to the period of the invasion or to a few years ago, pointing out this can be revealed with the use of latest technology.
