‘Intruders into historic sites face penalties’

The Minister of Informatio­n on Monday warned that procedures, legal accountabi­lity and financial penalties will be “activated” against any person who may intrude into fenced historic or archeologi­cal sites without permits from competent authoritie­s.

Abdulrahma­n Al-Mutairi, also the Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Chairperso­n of the National Council of Culture, Arts and Letters, cited the relics’ law, namely its sixth chapter (titled penalties) where punishment reaches up to five years for such offenses. (KUNA)
