Female employees in service dept hope MoE abide by CSC’s decision to limit their number
KUWAIT CITY, March 3: While a group of female employees in the Ministry of Education revealed that they are working at full capacity in a service department, hoping the ministry will abide by the decision of the Civil Service Commission (CSC) to limit the number of employees reporting for work to 30 percent of the total workforce; a reliable source from the educational sector affirmed that the ministry is one of the government agencies which implemented the decision on the first day it took effect, reports Al-Rai daily.
The source said the ministry asked most of its sectors to submit a list of their employees in order to prepare the work schedule and divide them gradually, as “we cannot exempt 70 percent of the employees at once and leave the transactions pending.” The source affirmed the decision is being implemented in many departments, units and sections; especially those that do not have direct contact with the public.
The source added the ministry decided the service departments which receive visitors and those dealing with employment affairs such as promotions are the last to implement the decision. The source said all the sectors will most likely implement the decision before the end of this week, at the latest.
On the other hand, the source confirmed that the compulsory retirement file in the ministry for those who reached the legal retirement age include 65-year-old Kuwaitis and expatriates.
The source revealed the Administrative Sector submitted the list of these employees to interim Minister of Education and Higher Education Dr Ali
Al-Mudhaf for approval. The source added the sector will then give retirement and termination letters to those covered by the decision.
The source went on to say that the recruitment process in the ministry continues to hire Kuwaiti teachers and administrators; while the Administrative Sector has not been informed about any academic manpower need in the Public Education Sector for the
next academic year 2021-2022.
The source said March 1 was set for interviewing teachers who met the conditions for local contracting.
Meanwhile, former minister of commerce and industry and minister of state for economic affairs Faisal AlMedlej issued Ministerial Decree number 61 of 2021 on the establishment of Kuwaiti Consumer Protection Society, reports Al-Jarida daily.
