Grilling on closure

KUWAIT CITY, March 6: MPs Hassan Jawhar and Muhannad Al-Sayer filed a grilling motion against Minister of Health Dr Basel Al-Sabah due to the recent decision of the Council of Ministers to impose partial curfew from 5:00 am to 5:00 pm starting Sunday.

Jawhar pointed out that the reason behind submitting the grilling motion is the insistence to continue the wrong way of dealing with coronavirus and exposing the State to a major loss.

He asserted the grilling motion is also a message for HH the Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled that he will face grilling in case the same destructive strategy is adopted and if he does not fulfill his obligations.

Al-Sayer said the re-enforcement of curfew implies shortcomings in crisis management and improper enforcement of the law.

He then addressed HH the Prime Minister: “Citizens’ health, interests and businesses should not be the subject of the experiments of the government.”

MP Musaed Al-Ardi filed a grilling motion against the Prime Minister on three issues – health, economy and security.

He disclosed the grilling motion focuses on the negative impact of unstudied decisions on citizens’ daily life, including the owners of small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

Giving an example of a destructive decision, Al-Ardi said the government issued a decision on Feb 7 to close spas, health clubs and barber shops; then on March 7, it decided to impose partial curfew and reopen the aforementioned businesses.

MP Ahmed Mutei Al-Azmi unveiled his plan to file a grilling motion against the minister of health due to the negative consequences of the decisions of health authorities.
