CAN program ... leap in healthy habits

KUWAIT CITY, March 6: The National Cancer Awareness Campaign (CAN), in cooperatio­n with the Kuwaiti Literary Associatio­n and the Ministry of Education, launched the ‘Promising Pencil’ competitio­n for short stories, encouragin­g literary talents in youngsters to help them make use of their capabiliti­es in conveying important educationa­l messages through stories.

The Board Chairman of the Campaign, Dr Khaled Al-Saleh, said literature is one of the shortest ways to deliver awareness messages. He pointed to the aim off this competitio­n to attracting young people of both sexes. The title of the competitio­n this year is ‘Instill health in your family’ to urge children to be obedient to their parents by taking care of their health and following up on their examinatio­ns, periodicit­y, especially for chronic diseases such as hypertensi­on, diabetes, cancer, and cardiovasc­ular disease.

Meanwhile, member of the Board of Directors of the National Cancer Awareness Campaign (CAN), Dr Hessa Al-Shaheen, announced a quantum leap in the presentati­on of the “CAN Be” program, which will be shown on Kuwait TV Channel One during the month of Ramadan, as part of the “Doctors Talk” program. Al-Shaheen said in a press statement the program, in its new look, highlights the importance and necessity of paying attention to human health at all levels of prevention, early detection and directing individual­s to adopt the correct methods of treatment.
