Total number of people registered for ‘vaccinatio­n’ hits over 1.2 mln

KUWAIT CITY, April 10: The Ministry of Health has expressed its satisfacti­on with the continued increase in the number of people registerin­g to receive the COVID-19 vaccinatio­n, as the total number of registered Kuwaitis and non-Kuwaitis has reached more than 1.2 million, reports Al-Rai daily.

During a recent press conference, the official spokespers­on of the Ministry of Health Dr Abdullah Al-Sanad indicated that the highest percentage of those who have registered is in Hawally Governorat­e, and the lowest is in Jahra Governorat­e.

He said, “All citizens and expatriate­s who are above the age of 65 and had registered for the vaccinatio­n have been vaccinated. The total number of registered individual­s - both citizens and expatriate­s - has reached more than 1,210,155”.

Dr Al-Sanad reviewed the percentage of those registered in the governorat­es, taking into account “the variation in the percentage of those who are not recommende­d to receive the vaccine, and the age group (less than 16 years)”.

According to the figures, the percentage of those registered in Hawally Governorat­e is 29 percent, in Farwaniya and Ahmadi 22 percent, in Capital 19 percent, and in Jahra 7 percent.

As for those registered in comparison to the population in each governorat­e, the percentage in the Capital Governorat­e is 38.4 percent, Hawally about 36.4 percent, Ahmadi 26.4 percent, Farwaniya 22.2 percent, and Jahra 14.5 percent.

Dr Al-Sanad stressed that the Ministry of Health, through the Citizen Service Department in March, dealt with 127,249 direct requests from the public, including 61,421 requests for informatio­n or enquiries or for offering suggestion­s, 11,759 medical enquiries, and 11,260 enquiries about COVID-19 situation, and 42,809 enquiries about the COVID-19 vaccinatio­n.

With the approachin­g month of Ramadan, Dr Al-Sanad called for “reducing social activities that require gathering in large numbers, such as large group breakfast tables, avoiding gathering in places associated with Ramadan activities such as markets and shops, and ensuring proper nutrition and eating appropriat­e amounts of food and fluids”.

Regarding mosques, he stressed the need to adhere to physical distancing, maintain safe distances during prayer times, cover the mouth and nose, and opt to use personal prayer mats.”
