Vaccination in co-ops, mosques

KUWAIT CITY, April 12: The Ministry of Health is racing against time to complete vaccinating the largest number of citizens and expatriates before the end of the current year, by intensifying vaccination campaigns by pressing into service mobile vaccination units which will target the cooperative societies and various institutions, in addition to resuming work in the hospital’s vaccination units.

The Ministry of Health announced yesterday the launch of the mobile units service to vaccinate workers of various nationalities in cooperative societies, mosques, and some commercial activities and service-providing activities in residential areas in all governorates of the country.

Informed health sources told Al-Seyassah daily the units have resumed work in hospitals and centers affiliated to the Ministry

of Health after a hiatus of about ten days.

The sources pointed out that many units have doubled their working hours, pointing out that most units would work in two shifts, from nine in the morning to one in the afternoon and from two in the afternoon to six in the evening, and during the month of Ramadan from nine in the morning to two in the evening and from 8:00 in the evening until midnight.

According to the global immunization indicators, the Ministry of Health has broken the barrier by vaccinating 17.55% of the country’s population, and with the apparent increase in the frequency of vaccination in the country, sources of immunization expect to vaccinate a quarter of Kuwait’s population to break the first million barrier at the end of the first week of Ramadan.

In the event the supply of vaccines continues without delay, it is expected that 50% of the Kuwaiti population will be vaccinated in the second half of next May.
