KUWAIT CITY, April 12: The Technical Follow-up Section of the Department of Coordination and Follow-up of Public Education has identified the need of the Ministry of Education for male and female teachers locally, and the required specializations in order to fill the shortage in schools during the 2021/2022 academic year. The official announcement is expected to be made by the Administrative Affairs Sector after the month of Ramadan, reports AlQabas daily.

The Public Education Sector addressed the Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education Faisal Al-Maqsid regarding the need for nonKuwaiti teachers. The number of specializations required from local contracts for the next year is eight - English, French, mathematics, chemistry, physics, biology, geology and music education.

The Coordination Department has determined the number of teachers to be contracted for each specialty. The total number of the required 592 teachers (317 male teachers and 275 female teachers) for all specializations may increase or decrease according to the variables and the existing requests as well as the nominations of the Civil Service Commission (CSC) for Kuwaiti teachers in these subjects.

The Public Education Sector has decided to start conducting interviews with applicants locally as soon as the Administrative Affairs Sector finishes the announcement and verification of applications.

Announce

It is expected that the ministry will officially announce its needs for the functions of the educational body after the month of Ramadan, specifically in May.

Based on the data obtained from the Public Education Sector, the ministry stressed the need to adhere to the experience requirement when accepting applications from teachers of all subjects, with the exception of female teachers for music education. The experience requirement is about three years of experience for those with non-educational qualifications, and two years of experience for educational qualifications.

The ministry also exempted PhD holders with grade of no less than “very good” in the university qualification, holders of a master’s degree with no less than “Excellent” grade in university qualification, graduates of the Kuwait University’s College of Education, graduates of the College of Basic Education in the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training, and all other government colleges in the country, from the condition of experience.

While the acceptance of non-Kuwaiti teachers was limited to passing a personal interview and no case or specialization is excluded from this, the ministry stressed that the priority of appointment should be for the children of Kuwaiti women, Bedoun residents, the children of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, and then expatriates in that order after the acceptance of all Kuwaitis for the required specializations.

The ministry has also set other conditions that must be met by the applicants such as no employment application shall be accepted without the availability of all required documents in accordance with the announcement, and applications from those with visit visas will not be accepted.

Upon receiving the applications, the academic qualifications and the transcript must be certified by the official authorities and by the cultural offices of Kuwait in the country of graduation. The governmental experience certificate for appointment is received only and not by the quota and wage system. It is documented by the official authorities, as well as the equivalence of the Supreme Council of Private Universities for certificates issued by private universities.
