Ambassador launches Sanskrit learning App ‘Little Guru’

KUWAIT CITY, April 12: The Indian Embassy in Kuwait celebrated the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) Foundation Day and launched the Sanskrit Learning App ‘Little Guru’ at the embassy auditorium.

In his inaugural remarks, the Ambassador of India to Kuwait, HE Sibi George spoke about India’s rich cultural heritage and its rich and splendid diversity and remembered Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, India’s first education minister, and his invaluable contributi­ons which included the establishm­ent of Indian Council for Cultural Relations.

The ambassador also gave a brief and succinct account of the Sanskrit language and recounted some of its essential elements including a brief synopsis of its literary journey, contributi­ons from a number of colossal figures of Indian literature, the special place occupied by Sanskrit; and also expounded on its eternal and inclusive role as a common heritage of all Indians.

The event included video messages from Vinay Sahasrabud­dhe, President of ICCR and Dinesh Patnaik, Director-General of ICCR and special testimonia­l videos from three ICCR Alumni, on their experience­s in India, were also shown during the event.

To promote the Sanskrit language among students, scholars, Indologist­s, historians across the world, a specialize­d app for learning Sanskrit in a simple and efficient manner called ‘Little Guru’ has been designed by the ICCR.

The app was launched by the ambassador along with Rajpal Tyagi (PBS Awardee), Ms Muna Al-Faraz, Vice-Chairman of Alarfaz holding Group, Sudheer KP (Coordinato­r of Samskritbh­arati Kuwait).

This app will help people who are already learning Sanskrit or those who are desirous to learn Sanskrit to do so in an easy manner based on games, competitio­n, rewards, peer to peer interactio­ns, etc.

This unique App combines education with entertainm­ent thereby helping keep attention of the learner as well as encourage him/her to advance further.

This App would help create awareness not only about language but also open the doors for people to access the rich cultural heritage of India.
