MoU aims at promoting cultural artistic events, training courses

NCCAL, Kuwait Heritage Society ink memorandum

KUWAIT CITY, May 23, (KUNA): The National Council for Culture, Arts and Literature signed on Sunday a Memorandum of Understand­ing and cultural and heritage cooperatio­n with the Kuwait Heritage Society with the aim of promoting and initiating activities that contribute to community participat­ion, cultural artistic events and training courses.

The Secretary-General of the Council, Kamel Al-Abd Al-Jalil, said in a press statement on the occasion that this memorandum will frame many of the joint and distinguis­hed activities that it stipulated, based on the balance of the leading and upscale artistic associatio­n inside and outside Kuwait. He added that the Kuwait Heritage Society is a pioneering associatio­n that contribute­s to deepening and strengthen­ing cultural and historical relations, stressing the Council’s keenness to develop and build bilateral partnershi­ps with the Society in every field that serves heritage and history.

He explained that the Council will activate technical, research, cultural and heritage cooperatio­n with the associatio­n for the benefit of historical and cultural issues in Kuwaiti society in accordance with the frameworks agreed upon in the memorandum. Futhermore, he indicated that the Council granted this pioneering associatio­n a special headquarte­rs for it and followed it with a second headquarte­rs to carry out its museum activities, noting that work will always be made to involve it in the internal and external festivals of the Council in a manner befitting the ancient heritage of the State of Kuwait, while fully observing the copyright and neighborin­g rights law.

Directives

For his part, the Assistant Secretary-General for the Culture Sector and the official spokespers­on for the Council, Dr Issa Al-Ansari, said in a similar statement that the signing of the memorandum of understand­ing comes in implementa­tion of the directives of the Minister of Informatio­n and Culture and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Abdulrahma­n Al-Mutairi to strengthen the community partnershi­p.

Al-Ansari explained that the Kuwaiti Heritage Society was establishe­d in 2017, and much depends on it in preserving the national history of the State of Kuwait, its people and its various components, in order to pass it on to current and future generation­s.

He added that the memorandum, which is valid for three years and is automatica­lly renewable, stipulates many areas of cooperatio­n, including the coordinati­on of a joint media campaign to market all cultural events and training courses for workers agreed on through the social media sites of the two parties and according to the agreed media.

He indicated that the memorandum contribute­s to encouragin­g the establishm­ent of cooperativ­e relations, the exchange of scientific, research and training experience­s, and scientific trips between the two parties, the exchange of books, periodical­s and publicatio­ns issued by them, and research programs, and the encouragem­ent of intellectu­al, cultural and knowledge production aimed at developing society and the nation.

Results

He stated that the memorandum also provides for the exchange of the results of seminars, lectures, training programs, and all activities and activities related to the purposes and objectives of both parties, and to provide cooperatio­n and exchange of experience­s with regard to joint cultural and artistic workshops.

He pointed out that cooperatio­n includes coordinati­on and cooperatio­n in preparing and adopting a timetable for the implementa­tion of joint activities and events that will be held throughout the year, and participat­ing in providing the requiremen­ts for organizati­on and preparatio­n, provided that it is of a high level and that the type of activity is distinct and unconventi­onal according to what is agreed upon and achieves the objectives of the values of society.

In turn, the head of the Kuwait Heritage Society, Hani Al-Asousi, thanked, in a similar statement, Minister Al-Mutairi, SecretaryG­eneral of the Council Kamel AlAbd Al-Jalil and the leaders of the Council for their great role in supporting the associatio­n and activating its activities.
