‘Jabs rate spirals’

- By Mohammad Ghanem

KUWAIT CITY, June 14: The Deputy DirectorGeneral for Planning and Projects Affairs and spokesman of the Directorate-General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) Saad Al-Otaibi, announced the first flight of Kuwait Airways from the Kuwait International Airport to the United Kingdom will take off next Thursday, followed by the second flight of Jazeera Airways. Both flights will return the same day.

The flights will operate once a week. The resumption of the flights comes in implementation of the Cabinet decision, which took effect Sunday, after flights to London had been suspended since December 24, last year due to health conditions and the emergence of the mutated virus in the UK.

Al-Otaibi explained more and more people in Kuwait now are being vaccinated against the Coronavirus and with every dose Kuwait limps back to normalcy. The announcement of the third phase of vaccination with 300,000 doses is a promising matter and pushes towards the return of passenger movement at the airport.

He called for the need to register with Kuwait Center for Immunization platform to take the vaccine, especially since the Council of Ministers gives priority to the people (incoming and outgoing passengers) who are vaccinated to exclude them from institutional quarantine, saying the people who are not vaccinated are not allowed to travel or those who are infected with the virus except for specific cases and exceptions, including those who have a medical certificate stating that the vaccine was not taken, pregnant women with a certificate to that effect, and those under 16 years of age, members of the diplomatic corps, and students, provided that a dose of the vaccine is taken at the traveler’s clinic.

However, Deputy Director-General for Airport Affairs at the DGCA Engineer Saleh Al-Fadaghi, said the registration on ‘Kuwait Musafir’ platform is mandatory for passengers who depart and arrive at the Kuwait International Airport, which was approved at the beginning of the ‘Corona’ crisis to ensure all health conditions are applied.

He added, this platform is linked to the Ministry of Health platform with regard to quarantine, immunity and vaccine as well as the DGCA to provide information about travelers, and is linked with the Ministry of Interior (My Identity), Higher Education and most of the relevant state agencies.
