Sea-goers urged to adhere to security, safety conditions

Contact Coast Guard operations in case of any emergency

KUWAIT CITY, June 15: The Coast Guard patrol boats ‘rescued’ 140 Kuwaitis and residents who were stranded on the Failaka Island last weekend due to the bad weather conditions accompanie­d by a wave of heavy dust that reduced the level of horizontal visibility.

The Directorat­e-General of Public Relations and Security Media Department of the Interior Ministry stated when the Operations Room of the Ministry of Interior received a report that citizens and residents were stranded on the Failaka Island the competent authoritie­s intervened to bring them home safe and sound.

The Minister of Interior Sheikh Thamer Al-Ali was present when the stranded were brought back ‘to their homes’ by the Coast Guard.

The Interior Ministry said these people were vacationin­g on the island but the fluctuatin­g weather conditions and the intensity of dust trapped them on the island.

The citizens expressed their appreciati­on and thanked to the Coast Guard and the Ministry of Health for quickly responding to the distress call, dealing immediatel­y with the issue and doing everything necessary for their comfort and safety.

Upon arrival at the Kuwait coast medical staff and ambulances were there to check on the health of the health of the stranded.

The General Administra­tion of the Coast Guard calls on citizens and residents and the sea-goers in particular to adhere to the security and safety conditions and to contact the Coast Guard operations (1880888) in case of any emergency.
