Committee begins work to spread Kuwaiti and Gulf musical heritage
KUWAIT CITY, June 16, (KUNA): The Kuwaiti Ministry of Information announced the start of the technical committee for the development of the Kuwaiti TV troupe in order to continue spreading the Kuwaiti and Gulf musical heritage, considering that the presence of the troupe in the art scene constitutes one of the tributaries of Kuwaiti heritage art.
Assistant Undersecretary for TV Affairs Turki Al-Mutairi told Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) after presiding over the committee’s first meeting on Wednesday, that this step, which came under the directives of the Minister of Information and Culture and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi, and with the support of the Undersecretary of the Ministry, Munira Al-Huwaidi, will enhance and develop the role of the troupe for which it was established. It is represented in preserving the folk music heritage of Kuwait.
Al-Mutairi added that the committee includes famous names for
artistic work in accordance with sound foundations and modern standards to develop the group’s work, which is still witnessing follow-up and interest from lovers of authentic Kuwaiti art, indicating that the development will include all aspects, the most important of which is attracting young artists from graduates of art and theater institutes and colleges in the country.
He affirmed the minister’s interest in preserving the artistic heritage, which is a motive for all government media workers to
develop the media system, in addition to striving for its leadership locally, regionally and internationally as one of the objectives of the Ministry of Information’s strategy for the next five years.
Al-Mutairi explained that the committee will work in this regard to keep pace with the great changes in order to convey the traditional arts presented by the TV troupe to the new generations of young people to familiarize them with these pioneering works and arts rooted in the conscience of the people presented
by the great artists of Kuwait throughout their generations.
It is noteworthy that the committee includes in its membership the great composer Ghannam AlDekan, the able media person Amal Abdullah, the professor at the Higher Institute of Dramatic Arts, Dr. Abdullah Al-Rumaithan, and the director of the second program administration at Kuwait Radio Youssef Al-Sari’i and Jabr Al-Salal, representing the administrative and financial affairs sector in the ministry.
