Desert Pioneers Toastmasters to host ‘Roast Of The Pioneers’

Criticism, done in a constructive and an agreeable humorous manner, can work wonders. And a “roast” is a form of such humorous criticism.
A roast is a lot like a pointed speech directed at a particular person or group. It is usually delivered in a manner where it pokes fun at the target. Roasts are usually delivered in the form of a toast at functions such as birthdays, anniversaries, and occasions where the target is being honored for something.
Although a roast is meant to mildly ridicule the target, it doesn’t necessarily have to be out rightly insulting or over laden with negativity. The jokes made at the target’s expense should be delivered in a manner that aims to build the target’s resilience, tolerance, and character.
Basically, a roast teases the target while still maintaining respect.
It is important to note though, that the “roaster” should be aware of the type of audience in attendance. The people around should possess a very healthy sense of humor in order that the roasting session is not misconstrued as an “insulting” session.
Today, the Desert Pioneers Toastmasters Club is priming itself for a roast of a lifetime! With eight of the most vociferous speakers (roasters) that one could possibly summon, there are going to be some really outrageous moments to witness here.
The DPTM Club however, is quite rugged and tough; having been one of the clubs in the Area and District, that has gained a reputation of rising up against seemingly insurmountable odds, and more stunningly, having excelled at almost everything they undertook!
The accolades, recognition and awards that the club has won, already gives the club the required strength of personality to stand strong and fearless in the impending typhoon of roasting that is expected to be flung its way on the 18th of June 2021. But time could very well tell a different story!
Yes! 18th of June 2021, from 7:00 PM onwards, is when eight roasters will try to break the proverbial bones of the DPTM Club through their scalding tirades and potshots. Let us find out what the pioneers are really made of!
Do they have the strength? Or would they buckle and melt under the fiery onslaught?
So, let’s make this hot summer hotter!
