KUWAIT CITY, July 3: Acting on information personnel from the General Traffic Department (GTD) rushed to the Salmi Road (Kilo 34) and dispersed a crowd of dozens of young men who had gathered in the area to organize illegal car races after blocking the road for normal vehicular traffic.

The reckless motorists allegedly escaped with their vehicles before the GTD men could swoop on them. These young men are known to organize such events for fun and endanger their lives and the lives of other road users and onlookers with their reckless behavior.

The Ministry of Interior announced only one youngster was arrested and referred to the area police station.

In a related context, a security source told Al-Seyassah daily that the Ministry of Interior will launch extensive security campaigns against the reckless motorists, especially since such phenomena repeats itself after each scholastic year particularly during the months of July and August.
