Arab Media Forum praises role of Arab League

KUWAIT CITY, July 3, (KUNA): Secretary-General of the Arab Media Forum Madi Al-Khamis expressed appreciati­on for the keenness of the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, to develop the Arab media track and to renew the media discourse in all its forms so that it can keep pace with the developmen­ts of the times.

In a press statement after his meeting with Aboul Gheit in Cairo, Al-Khamis praised the role of the Arab League and its keenness to participat­e in sponsoring the activities of the Arab Media Forum periodical­ly in order to promote and support the march of the media level in the Arab world.

He said that the activities and events carried out by the forum since its establishm­ent 18 years ago contribute­d to the advancemen­t of media issues at the Arab levels, adding that the meeting discussed the reality and future of Arab media.

During the meeting, Al-Khamis gave a detailed explanatio­n to the Secretary-General of the Arab League on the idea of the Arab Media Capital, through which an Arab city is chosen annually according to an integrated set of foundation­s and profession­al standards to be the capital of Arab media.

He explained that this idea would contribute to the developmen­t of a common and renewed

Arab media, in addition to spreading media quality standards and creating new forms of Arab media interdepen­dence, whether at the institutio­nal level or at the level of media profession­als themselves.

It is noteworthy that the two sides agreed in this regard that the Arab Media Forum Authority would submit a memorandum detailing the vision of developing Arab media from several tracks.
