Power load index reads 14,950 MW on Friday
KUWAIT CITY, July 3: The Assistant Undersecretary for the Electricity Transmission Networks Sector and Monitoring and Control Centers at the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, Mutlaq Al-Otaibi, has called on the ministry’s clients to rationalize power consumption, reports Al-Qabas daily.
Al-Otaibi said in a press statement the power consumption index Friday, read 14,950 megawatts maximum when the temperature reached 52 degrees Celsius, stressing that the ministry has sufficient electric power, but this does not mean excessive consumption.
He explained one of the ways to reduce power consumption is to replace the old air-conditioning units with new, (Inverter) system.
He stated that if 500 consumers replaced the old air-conditioning units with the new ones, 6 to 3 kilowatts can be saved, equivalent to 50 percent of the previous total consumption, with a total savings of about 1,500 megawatts, which is equivalent to the production of a complete power plant.
